Where: The Paramount Theater
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. TED provides the rules and guidelines, but TEDxCharlottesville is independently organized and executed. Since 2013, TEDxCharlottesvile has participated in the TEDx mission to bring awareness to the rich talent, creativity and innovation found here in Charlotteville, Virginia.
TEDxCharlottesville and Starr Hill Presents will host the TEDx event “What If…”. Following the success of sell-out events in 2013 and 2014, the all-volunteer committee is prepared to present another dynamic program designed to inspire the community to open up to the possibility of “What If…”
The focus on “What If…” will encourage consideration of how the world would look different when we suspend our judgment. The core of age-old questions asked by explorers (“What if the world isn’t flat?”), scientists (“What would happen if you could split an atom?”), and artists at the start of every new piece of work, “What If…” inspires new thinking, demands introspection, and challenges the status quo. The conference will include a wide array of speakers and performers, with more to be announced throughout the summer.
*Tickets include access to all speakers and experiences, a continental breakfast, complimentary lunch and a post-event party at the Jefferson Theater.*
