Membership
Benefits
Not only
are member businesses given the opportunity to take advantage of great
group advertising rates, but they're also rewarded enhanced listings
in our annual "Charlottesville Historic Downtown" Brochure
that include their business phone number as well as a short blurb about
the business.
The DBAC
always keeps its members up to date with recent news, information, or
events concerning the Downtown area, such as new construction initiatives
and new city regulations via our DBAC email list.
Furthermore,
the DBAC is a powerful, unified voice for its member businesses. Any
changes that businesses would like to see in the Downtown area will
be fought for with a larger and more influential voice in the Charlottesville
community.
A sample
list of programs that have been created or sponsored by the DBAC which
members have participated in the past include, but are not limited to:
Downtown
Brochure: The Downtown Brochure, designed in partnership
with Payne & Ross Associates for the past four years, is currently
being updated for 2006-2007. 20,000 copies of the brochure will be
distributed to the press, visitors at visitor centers and hotels,
and in various other ways.
Visitor
Guide Advertisement: This past year was the fourth time
we placed an advertisement in the Charlottesville Area Regional Tourist
Guide. The ad took an entire page and was in full-color. 200,000 were
printed and distributed with help from the Charlottesville-Albemarle
Convention and Visitor's Bureau.
UVA Connection:
We are currently working with Conference Services, the Alumni Association,
and the Orientation Office to create a stronger tie between the Downtown
and UVA especially in terms of publicity and marketing.
Partnerships
with Area Media: In past years, we have partnered with
various radio, print and television publications to create promotional
packages and advertising discounts for Downtown merchants.
- “Downtown
For” Campaigns: The DBAC is responsible for creating
the five “Downtown For” campaigns which include: Downtown
for the Spring, Summer, Holidays, Fall and Game Day. These campaigns
are a collaborative effort with the local media that promotes the
Downtown with a different theme during these times. In the past
we have had a pull out section in the Daily Progress and advertisements
run on local radio stations. Tabs in the periodical C-VILLE
have helped spread the word as well.
